U.S. widens probe of vitamins pricing
Article Abstract:
The US Department of Justice has expanded its investigation into the alleged price-rigging activities in the sale of vitamins to include chemical companies in Japan, Europe and the US. The inquiry aims to examine and evaluate the sales practices and price setting standards adopted by manufacturers in an effort to determine the veracity of allegations that several vitamin producers, suppliers and distributors conspired with one another to control prices. The move is part of the efforts of the agency to lead in the drive against price-setting cartels in a wide range of commodities in the international arena.
