Ubisoft explores defense strategies

In an effort to fend off what it sees as the threat of a hostile takeover by U.S. video game giant Electronic Arts Inc., France's Ubisoft Entertainment S.A. has initiated discussions with Vivendi Universal Games Inc., also of France, for a possible merger. If this approach proves unsuccessful, Ubisoft's chief executive officer Yves Guillemot may seek to organize the company's largest shareholders in order to block any bids from Electronic Arts.
