Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom government has decided to allow refugees from Kosovo, Yugoslavia, to enter the UK, after an initially stating that the refugees should remain close to Kosovo. This change is linked to public sympathy for the refugees, and the UK had also been criticised for taking very few refugees. The UK aims to control the numbers of economic migrants seeking asylum through its Immigration and Asylum Bill. The bill contains provisions replacing cash welfare benefits with food vouchers, and it no longer permits asylum seekers to choose where they live. Supporting bogus claims for asylum costs and estimated $800 million annually, the government estimates.

Unspeakable supplicants
Article Abstract:
There has been incompetence in dealing with applications for asylum in Britain, and politicians could call for tolerance, especially in view of the serious problems of the Balkan region. There is also no need to oppose economic migrants, who can benefit Britain, and should not have to pretend to seek asylum.
