Unchecked, unbalanced
Article Abstract:
Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, has installed his own supporters in a number of key posts. His selection for the governorship of Venezuela's central bank, and retention of the same economics team concerns businessmen who had hoped for more market friendly policies. Chavez had previously twice attempted coups in Venzuela. The constituent assembly has been made the supreme power, and is filled with supporters of the government. Out of Iowa
Article Abstract:
The US presidential election campaign can be said to have started in Iowa. There is a need for debate in US politics on issues such as health care reform, and Bill Bradley has been able to force a discussion of how the uninsured should be cared for. The Republicans have debated fiscal policy, campaign funds and foreign policy. Simplication of the tax system is preferable to simply reducing taxes, and the US should not cut taxes unless spending is cut, since this could overstimulate the economy.
