Traffic growth helps lift profit at BAA by 7.5%

BAA PLC posted an 7.5% improvement in its pretax profits for the year ending on March 31, 1999. The airport operator was helped by higher airport traffic and one-time disposals. BAA's profits improved to 516 million pound sterling (793.7 million euros). During the previous year, the firm posted 480 million pound sterling. BAA said its airport traffic for the year improved by 7.7% to 112 million passengers.
