Endesa moves step closer to control of Endesa Chile
Article Abstract:
Spain's Endesa SA (Endesa Spain) moved closer to acquiring controlling interest in Empresa Nacional de Electricidad SA (Endesa Chile) following the Duke Energy Corp.'s decision to withdraw from the bidding for the Chilean-based firm. Duke made its decision to withdraw its $3 billion bid on April 21, 1999. This was two days after Endesa Spain increased its bid for Endesa Chile. Both Duke and Endesa Spain had been engaged in an increasingly intense bidding war for Endesa Chile.
