VIKRANT TYRE PLANT LIKELY TO BECOME OPERATIONAL SOON
Article Abstract:
Vikrant Tyres Limited (VTL), Mysore, is likely to resume production from February 18, 1999. The decision was taken after the management and employees' union reached an understanding on February 16, 1999. Around 800 workers were on strike since January 4, 1999. The management and the union had disagreed on the productivity norm in the plant after the installation of some new machines. The strike resulted in production loss of Rs45 crore. According to the agreement now, an independent study conducted by organisation like National Productivity Council will decide the output to be achieved per shift. (um)(psr)
