VISA, IBM TAKE STAKE IN EQUIFAX VENTURE
Article Abstract:
Visa International, a payment services association, and IBM Global Services have both acquired equity in Equifax Venture India (EVI), a 50:50 joint venture payment processing services company between Equifax Inc of the US and Venture Infotek. Sources say that Visa and IBM Global have each taken a 5 percent stake in the equity of EVI. EVI has its national processing centre at Mumbai and service hubs in eight other cities. It has already invested over Rs30 crore in technology and systems and plans to work on the credit card acceptance automation process and launch a smart card solution in the next 12 months. (khr)

CDC TO TAKE MAJOR STAKE IN SATYAM INFO

The Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC), a government of England undertaking, has negotiated a deal to acquire a major stake in Satyam Infoway Ltd, India's first private Internet service provider. Sources say that Satyam Infoway, a 100 percent subsidiary of Satyam Computer Services Ltd of Hyderabad, may dilute about 20 percent of its present equity of Rs15 crore. (khr)
