Visualisation steals the show in Chicago
Article Abstract:
Manufacturers of specialist architecture hardware and software displayed their latest products at the AEC Systems show held in Chicago 1998. The main theme of the show appeared to stress the importance of architectural use of computers to enhance design and practice. Many of the products produce almost photographic images of buildings which are still at the design stage. Bentley Systems displayed its latest CAD system MicroStation/J which took two years to develop.

Article Abstract:
Computer aided design software with object orientated technology can make significant cost savings to the architectural design process. The user is able to identify changes in costs by making modifications to material and design. Object technology industry standards are being developed by the Industry Alliance for Interoperability. Industry Foundation Classes with cross-platform compatibility are being set up.
