Vitkovice - an ambitious project
Article Abstract:
Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic), engineering and metallurgy firm, has been awarded two big contracts for its power engineering division. The first contract regards a supply of three large-capacity oil tanks with a capacity of 125,000 cu mt each. The double-casing tanks will have an outside diameter of 90.5 mt. The diameter of their inner casing will be 84.5 mt. A total of 10 kt of plates will be used for the contract. The general supplier of the oil storage capacities is Metrostav (Prague, Czech Republic). The tanks are intended for Mero (Czech Republic). The project should be completed in the middle of 2002. The other big project is a supply of components for a heating plant in Turkey. Vitkovice increased its proceeds by 7% for Jan-Feb/2001 compared to the business project. In the field of engineering, its proceeds rose by 5.5%.

Vitkovice in Greece

Vitkovice (Vitkovice, Czech Republic), metallurgy and engineering firm, has been awarded a contract in Greece. The firm arranged the contract on the construction of an unsorted civil-waste incinerating plant with a power station for the city of Salonica with Panelco Electric (Greece). The general supplier of the project should be Vitkovice's division Inzenyring. The investment costs on the project are 280 mil USD. About 200 mil USD of the contract's volume will be ensured by Vitkovice. The first part of the contract worth 14 mil USD was arranged in November 1999. The project's construction jobs should be started in the middle of 2000 and should be completed in 2003. The technological equipment should be commissioned in 2004. The economic recoverability of the project is fixed at 11 years.

Vitkovice's four-high 3.5 mt rolling mill
Article Abstract:
Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic), metallurgy firm, is working on the major overhaul of its four-high 3.5 mt plate rolling mill. The equipment ensures nearly 60% of the firm's production. The investment costs on the repair and modernisation of the equipment should be 2.5 bil Kc. The repair was started in November 1998. The equipment's hot testing was realised on 25 February 1999. The brand new technology of the rolling mill is the know-how of Vitkovice and Voest Alpine (Austria). The modernised rolling mill should produce nearly 55,000 t per month and about 600,000 t per year.
