Vodni stavby (VS) (Prague, Czech Republic), construction firm, expects a loss in 1998. The loss should represent one third of the 1997 loss, which amounted to 307 mil Kc. The firm generated a turnover of 5.5 bil Kc in 1997. The volume of the construction production market is about 200 bil Kc. About 3% of the sum is represented by VS. State contracts represented about 60% of the company's production in 1997. The firm plans to decrease the share to about 20% prospectively. About 10% of the firm's production should be represented by exports and the rest by contracts awarded by private investors shortly. The firm has 4,000 employees.

Golub Europe builds in Prague
Article Abstract:
Golub Europe (GE) (US), developer construction company, is ensuring the construction of an administrative and commercial centre in Prague, the Czech Republic, in 2001. The construction of the glass building Charles Square Center is being done next to the underground station Karlovo Namesti-Charles Square. The total investment costs on the construction will be CEK 1.75 bil. The complex will be commissioned in 2002. It is GE's first project in Prague. Before, the company has carried out projects in Warzsaw, Poland and St.Petersburg, Russia, among others.

Techfloor (Opava, Czech Republic), construction company, saw a turnover of 340 mil Kc in 1998 compared to 240 mil Kc in 1997 and 108 mil Kc in 1996. The company's turnover amounted to nearly 500 mil Kc including its subsidiaries in 1998. The company is focused on the supplies of industrial flooring. Techfloor is the exclusive Czech supplier of the technology RPM Belgium.
