Volkswagen to reduce output of Polo, invest $167.2 million in Spain plant

Volkswagen AG, the biggest car manufacturer in Europe, has announced it will reduce production of its Polo compact car and will invest around 300 million marks or 167.2 million to put all manufacturing of Polo at its plant in Pamplona, Spain. The company noted the consolidation of the production of Polo in Pamplona is a result of its decision to manufacture the Lupo, its new compact car, at its main facility in Wolfsburg, Germany. Production of Polos is expected to decline from approximately 2,000 units a day to 1,500.
