Wal-Mart offers to buy rest of Japanese subsidiary

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has offered to buy the remaining stake in Seiyu Ltd., its Japanese subsidiary, for $875 mil, or $1.22 per share, a 61% premium. Owning all of Seiyu would improve Wal-Mart's logistics, merchandising, and distribution in Japan.
