Wal-Mart posts softest same-store sales since '00

Discount retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is reporting declining sales at its established U.S. stores, with a mere 0.5% sales increase in October. Recent efforts to increase sales, including targeting wealthier consumers and renovating stores, have not worked well so far. However, Wal-Mart is beginning to see signs of improvement for the holiday season, due to lower gas prices.
