Lagardere, Vivendi reach pact

Lagardere Groupe S.A. of France is in joint venture with Vivendi Universal S.A. also of France to buy a 20 percent stake in Canal Plus S.A. Lagardere Groupe S.A. will pay 525 million Euros ($624.4 million). The French cable television broadcasting venture is valued at 7.5 billion Euros.

Warning fails to dull Canal Plus: Share rise despite profit revision

After dropping more than 4% following Canal Plus S.A. new profit warning, shares in the pay-TV company on the Paris Bourse closed up 1.8%, or 2, to 114. Canal Plus declined to quanitify its profit warning, the second since Sept. A company representative said that Canal would not release any specific estimates until March. Canal also announced a shuffle in management.
