Watch closely: small stocks offer opportunities - and risks
Article Abstract:
The smaller stocks on the Stock Exchange of Thailand have been overlooked by foreign investors but may provide some of the exchange's best opportunities. Foreign investors see the low liquidity of these stocks as a risk factor. When choosing small stocks it is wise to research the company, rather than the sector they operate in. Agribusiness and garment manufacturers are some of the current investment recommendations. Publishing stocks and jewellery manufacturers also offer good sources of investment.

Looking to value-added
Article Abstract:
Thailand's booming export business will continue to toe the trend as long as it weathers the twin dangers of protectionism and competition. The country is the biggest exporter of textiles, rice and tuna and ranks favorably in such commodities as footwear, integrated circuits and plastic toys. Despite the slump in the economies of the West, Thailand's exports have steadily grown. To remain competitive even in protectionist markets, the country aims to increase efficiency and product value-added.

Wired for export
Article Abstract:
The growth of the electronics and electrical goods export sector underscores Thailand's transformation into an industrialized economy. In 1991, the sector accounted for 16.5% of Thailand's total exports, ahead of textile and basic commodities, which respectively contributed 14% and 16% of exports. The dramatic surge in the sector's exports is largely the result of massive investment by Japanese, South Korean, Taiwanese and Singaporean firms.
