Westminster savages Ellis Williams' Pimlico scheme
Article Abstract:
Westminster City councillors have demanded a total redesign of Ellis Williams Architects scheme for a new Pimlico School. The plan is to demolish and rebuild the school, along with 169 luxury flats. The proposals were attacked for being mediocre and not in keeping with the surroundings. The potential effects on traffic and disabled access were also criticised. English Heritage has stated that the building could be considered for a Grade II listing and that the scheme for the flats is not of sufficient quality, distinction and sensitivity to enhance the area.

Heritage Lottery money used to boost Whitehall budgets
Article Abstract:
The Heritage Lottery Fund has defended its award of 754,300 pounds sterling to the Environment Agency for a project to promote access to local heritage, saying that the Environment Agency is acting as a facilitator. It had been accused of breaking additionality rules by making the award. The HLF has awarded 9.3 million pounds sterling to 159 projects in its latest round of awards. These include a grant to the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, and grants which will go towards adapting buildings.
