When Charles takes over from Paddy
Article Abstract:
Charles Kennedy looks set to become leader of the United Kingdom Liberal Democrats, replacing Paddy Ashdown who is leaving. Kennedy denies that he is lazy and disorganized. Ashdown has tended not to let senior colleagues know what he was doing, nor reformed the Liberal Democrat administration or persuaded the party that an alliance with the Labor Party is a good thing. Prime minister, Tony Blair, may want to retaliate should Kennedy appear reluctant to cooperate, but Kennedy has friends in the Labor Party and can repair any rifts that emerge.
