Why more Japanese career women are moving abroad
Article Abstract:
Japanese women executives lag far behind their counterparts in other countries, with the percentage of women executives slipping from 6.7 percent to 5.5 percent in recent years, while at the same time the percentages in the U.S. has increased to 32 percent in 1983. The Japanese women managers are choosing increasingly to seek positions in other countries, particularly the U.S., and those emigres who plan to return someday expect to return in positions with foreign firms operating in Japan. Examples are provided of women who have chosen to leave Japan in search of better potential career growth, including an MBA who would have been little more than a high-class secretary if she had stayed in Japan, and the outlook for women executives in Japan is described.

'Er... uh... thanks for the fine... uh... introduction...'
Article Abstract:
Many corporate executives excel at finance, manufacturing and personnel motivation, but all of their success in these areas can come to nothing if the executives lack to ability to communicate the benefits and accomplishments of their companies with the public. An essential talent for today's corporate managers is the ability to present themselves and their firms in the best light possible, but this does not necessarily require great oratory skills. All that is required is that the managers are honest, clear and concise in their public presentations to customers and perspective customers; workers, staff and suppliers; the general public through the media; and shareholders.
