Wide of the mark
Article Abstract:
High-definition television (HDTV) is not as popular with Japanese consumers as wide-screen television. The high price of HDTV can account for consumer reluctance to buy HDTV sets, despite advertisement campaigns by Japanese firms. The US Federal Communications Commission will select one from among five HDTV systems it is currently testing as the standard for HDTV systems. Japan's ultra-definition television will be based on the system adopted in the US.

A chip for all reasons
Article Abstract:
Japanese manufacturers of dynamic random access computer memory chips (DRAMs) are diversifying their products to create specialized chips.
