Winning formula: An old calculation proves its mettle
Article Abstract:
ING Baring Securities in Hong Kong put 11 years of Asian market data through its computers. The finding was that checking out a company's ratio of enterprise value to sales is a more reliable way of forecasting future performance. This ratio is similar to the price-to-sales ratio, but looking only at market capitalization divided by sales is problematic. ING's stock-picking measure is discussed and used to evaluate several companies.

What price stability? The currency peg has drawbacks
Article Abstract:
The fixed exchange rate of the Hong Kong dollar to the U.S. dollar is seen as a stabilizing influence, but it may be outdated, as Hong Kong is more related to China than to the U.S. The currency peg may also cause higher interest rates that the government will be powerless to change.
