Georgia became one of the poorest post-Soviet Union nations due to a lot of hostilities that occurred with foreign-supported separatist leaders trying to build and maintain influence, hostile planes trespassing the airspace and other problems. Romania, due to its experience with similar problems is providing assistance and support stability in Georgia and helping anchor it to the Euro-Atlantic system.

EU cuts growth outlook for 2008, 2009
Article Abstract:
The European Union has estimated that economic growth will be significantly slower during the next two years, citing higher oil prices, a weaker US economy, and current financial market problems. The EU has predicted a growth rate of 2.4% in 2008 and 2009 for its 27-nation bloc. Growth in the 13 euro countries is expected to be 2.2% and 2.1% in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

ADB increases growth forecast for East Asia
Article Abstract:
The Asian Development Bank increased its forecasted growth for the East Asia region from 7% to 8.1% based on sustained momentum in China and expansions in other economies in the region. The bank also identified capital inflows as challenges to governments attempting to mediate rising appreciation pressure on asset prices and currencies.
