Article Abstract:
Investors can choose from a wide variety of mutual funds, and there are moves to have them rated in a number of countries such as Mexico and Taiwan. Funds can be rated on past performance and costs, or using forward-looking ratings. There are problems in rating funds, such as the danger that managers could change. Funds may also be appropriate for certain types of investors and not for others. Funds with high ratings may perform poorly, which could lead investors to move away from mutual funds as a whole.
