A plan to enliven Center City's tourist appeal
Article Abstract:
Philadelphia's Center City District and architectural firm MGA Partners revealed a strategic plan June 16, 2004 for making Center City a better tourist destination by giving visitors more opportunities to shop, visit nightclubs, and view the city from atop City Hall. The plan, prepared for the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, called for filling in gaps in stores and facilities in a large Y-shaped area formed by East Market and South Broad Streets and the Parkway.

Competition to sell toys isnEt based just on price
Article Abstract:
Toy retailers realized early in 2003 that engaging in a price war with US' largest retailers like Wal-Mart and Target is futile as it could result in liquidation of their companies due to severe pricing pressure. Hence, independent stores such as Children's Boutique in Center City are staying in business because they are popular in their neighborhoods due to their personalized service or they serve niche markets such as model-rail-road hobbyists.
