AT&T defends its plan
Article Abstract:
AT&T executives declared that the company's envisioned high-tech homes through the $31.7-billion acquisition of cable giant TeleCommunications Inc. (TCI) is achievable. The statement was made after AT&T's stocks plunged due to mockings made by investors about the company's plan to offer an all-in-one telephone, Internet and video services. As part of an effort to earn the confidence of industry experts, the company also plans to spend $4.4 billion and other investment for the modernization of TCI's cable network to provide telephone service, high-speed Internet access and video entertainment over cable lines to millions of customers.
