Earnings warnings on the rise

Philadelphia, Penn.-based Rohm and Haas Co. had issued an earnings warning to investors last month, anticipating a series of earnings warnings among the Standard and Poor's 500 companies. The S&P 500 showed a 41% rise in the number of companies issuing earnings warnings in the first quarter of 2001 compared to the previous quarter.

Rohm & Haas to make cutbacks
Article Abstract:
Rohm and Haas Co. revealed yesterday a major attempt to cut expenses throughout its operations. The company plans to eliminate up to 1,260 jobs, 7% of its workforce.
