Provident American to sell agent-based insurance business
Article Abstract:
Provident American Corp. will sell its agent-based insurance unit to Central Reserve Life Insurance Co. (Strongville, OH). Provident will concentrate on internet-based advertising of life insurance. As part of the deal, which still needs regulatory approval, Central Reserve will provide health-insurance products via Provident's web site HeahtlAxis.com. The two companies will share profits from the collaboration. Provident has also obtained advertising deals with America Online, Lycos, and Cnet. Recently, Provident has been experiencing losses.
