Article Abstract:

A report about a century of powered flight, which began with the Wright brothers on the dunes of Kitty Hawk in December 1903, which has seen quantum advances through the century in aircraft engineering, is presented. The romance of aviation captured Hollywood's heart, with movies being made in aviation background and movie stars enlisted to inaugurate new routes, and commercial aviation grew up alongside the new professions of industrial and graphic design.
