A career in corporate finance
Article Abstract:
The requirements for a career in corporate finance are stringent. Accountants wanting to enter this field must have a better-than-average scholastic record obtained from a reputable school, have received training from a major accounting company, and have passed the examinations at first try. Corporate financiers must also possess certain characteristics to go along with their educational and professional qualifications. They need to be business-minded, out-going and ambitious. In addition, corporate financiers must have leadership abilities, be willing to work long hours and be able to maintain confidentiality. Two accountants that have made it in the field of corporate finance are Peter Gardiner and James Riley.

Japan: business, golf and gardens
Article Abstract:
Japanese investment has dramatically increased in Europe, particularly in the UK, because of several economic and cultural factors, the most important of which is the unification of most of Europe under a single market at the end of 1992. Japan wants to secure its place in the European market, composed of 340 million people, before it gets excluded by European protectionism. The British view of the Japanese varies from awe, admiration, and condescension to fear. But the British business community continues to welcome Japanese investment which has reached 13 billion pounds sterling in 1991, a figure expected to increase in the coming years.
