Quality people sit tight
Article Abstract:
Chartered accountants that have chosen to specialize in taxation are weathering the recession well. This is indicated in an FRES survey that examines the current employment market for accounting professionals. The survey shows that redundancies for tax professionals have been minimal owing to the high premium being paid for services relating to both personal and corporate tax. However, future plans to specialize in tax may not serve as a potential opening for chartered accountants currently seeking jobs since major UK firms that have previously offered specialization in tax are now merely offering secondments. Aside from tax specialists, CIMAs are also enjoying a healthy demand in the corporate market.
