A farewell to bacterial ARMs?
Article Abstract:
Researchers investigating plant responses to the explosive TNT have stumbled upon a transporter gene that might obviate the need for bacterial selectable markers in the generation of transgenic plants. However, while studying the effect of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene in 'Arabidopsis thaliana', the antibiotic resistance marker (ARM), used to select stable transformants containing the T-DNA mutants, was slowed or eliminated.

Ion genomics
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to examine that how plants regulate ion transport and uptake offers the potential for developing strategies for fortifying the essential mineral nutrient composition of crops. Rational manipulation of plant mineral nutrition would inevitably demand a systems approach and the construction of a virtual network capable of simulating the genomic basis of ionic homeostasis.

An expression atlas of rice mRNAs and small RNAs
Article Abstract:
The massive parallel signature sequencing is used for sequence identification of mRNA and small RNA transcripts of rice. The genome of rice shows sense as well as antisense expression of annotated genes and highly repetitive small RNAs that constitute small RNAs.
