A new tool for the financial analyst
Article Abstract:
Planalyst is a computer program package that can create 20 standard reports featuring ratios for previous or projected financial analysis. The package involves two files and five programs (INPUT, RUN, PRINT, LIST, and EDIT) and is ready for immediate use. The values on the printed reports and the viewfile can be easily varied by modifying the data file and rerunning the program. The user first enters the control information, followed by entries of scale and data. There are approximately eight pages of overview and starting instructions, followed by demonstration exercises. The ability of the package to generate ratios makes it of special value to accountants, business teachers, and other financial analysts who are experienced in modeling and analyzing.

The program can take data from seven specified formats and translate it into charts. Several variations of chart types are available. The program can be run on a Micro-Sirius-Victor, an Apricot or an IBM-PC and other compatible machines. A matrix printer or pen plotter is needed for hard copy. The supplier is Praxis Business Systems.
