A "perfect storm" hits insurance sector

Several trends are combining to cause a crisis in the insurance industry. Customers are balking at premium increases that must be made to cover large litigation awards, terrorist attacks, and lost investments. Higher premiums will probably reverse the crisis, but premiums will likely go on increasing at a faster rate than inflation.

Most U.S. households, especially those with dependents, have inadequate levels of life insurance coverage. The reasons for this often have to do more with a lack of information than cost.
