Green chemistry yields a better plastic
Article Abstract:
To synthesize organic molecules from biological systems, as in all other production processes, reducing the number of intermediates can reduce costs and improve yields. Synthesis of unusual compounds directly in plants would probably be the best method to produce bulk commodities at low cost.

The research by Takahashi and his associates, regarding the derivation in the culture of putative photoreceptors from embryonic stem (ES) cells of mouse, monkey and human origin for treating the retinal diseases involving loss of photoreceptor cells, is discussed.
