AOL & Target announce alliance

America Online Inc (AOL) and Target Stores Inc have created a strategic alliance that will involve expansive cross-marketing arrangements, combining significant off-line co-branding campaigns and in-store offerings with extensive online initiatives. AOL will become Target's preferred online service, while Target.com will become the premier retailer across a number of AOL brands. The alliance is expected to extend AOL's retail presence and help its users find easily Target's goods and services.

Target Stores has forged a strategic, mullti-channel marketing alliance with online personal financial services provider E*TRADE Group Inc. The deal calls for Target to pilot an in-store E*TRADE financial services center with E*TRADE Bank-branded automated teller machine at the front of a SuperTarget store in Roswell, GA. It also includes the creation of a co- branded Target-E*TRADE Internet World Wide Web site for Target guests.

America Online Inc (AOL) has formed tow separate strategic alliances with Wal-Mart Stores Inc and Circuit City Stores Inc. The agreement with Wal- Mart will create a Wal-Mart/AOL co-branded Internet service provider and several cross-marketing initiatives. The alliance with Circuit City involves in-store promotion of AOL products and services at Circuit City outlets nationwide.
