ASC and MSP perfecting the partnership
Article Abstract:
Installing the right accounts system is critical to the success of any company. The experience of Scotland-based Modern Structural Plastics (MSP) demonstrate how the problem of deciding which system to adopt may be approached. MSP Commercial Mgr Brian Goldwell and company accountant Tony Harris chose to seek the advice of Accounting Software Consultants Ltd (ASC) in Glasgow because of the consultancy's degree of commitment and its realistic assessment of what MSP needed. ASC advised the sheet metal manufacturer to adopt Hewlett-Packard hardware and the TIS financial management software Strategix. Goldwell and Harris report that their company is quite satisfied with its new accounts system. Minor problems were encountered initially but these were quickly dealt with by ASC. The success of the system was largely due to the close relationship between MSP and ASC.

What colors do you see?
Article Abstract:
Graphic artists who work with color need to be aware that visual perception of color varies from individual to individual as well as among equipment. The majority of people whose income depends on good color have never had their color vision tested, but those who test weak can compensate through such methods as memorizing the numbers that correspond to specific colors. Farnsworth-Munsell (FM) is the most common color test in the graphic arts industry; it measures not absolute color perception but how well an individual can discriminate between colors. Many problems arise from the complexity of human color vision, which depends both on cones in the retina and how the brain interprets the information the eye receives. The CIELAB color model works much like the interface between the retina and the optic nerve.
