Article Abstract:
Northrop Grumman Corp., Electronic Sensors and Systems Division, Linthicum, Md., is being awarded a $6,803,372 increment as part of a $14,769,781 (total if all options are exercised) cost-plus-fixed-fee-completion contract. The contractor will perform hardware/software design and development and system integration for the residual phase of the Semi-Automated IMINT Processing (SAIP) Residual System Program. The contractor will be responsible for design and integration of a large multiprocessor hardware suite in a three-rack configuration suitable for insertion into an imagery exploitation system. It will port existing software developed under the Enhanced SAIP development program into this new hardware configuration and will modify this software for increased throughput, enhanced robustness and appropriate new input/output interfaces. It will also act as integrator in all regards including development of residual system specifications; control and revision of design description documents; and coordination of integration testing, military exercises, and demonstrations. A fully integrated SAIP residual system will be available for test and integration by mid-1999. Work will be performed in Linthicum, Md. (44%); Mountain View, Calif. (32%); Melbourne, Fla. (5%); Philadelphia, Pa. (5%); Waltham, Mass. (3%); Ann Arbor, Mich. (2%); Norwalk, Conn. (2%); and various other locations (7%), and is expected to be completed by Sept. 14, 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract initiated on April 10, 1998. Expected contract completion date is April 30, 2001. Negotiation completion date was Feb. 17, 1999.
