Analysis of workers' compensation claims associated with manual materials handling
Article Abstract:
Cumulative trauma disorders of the upper extremity represent only 2% of the workers' compensation claims and 3% of the costs relating to manual materials handling. There is a dearth of published studies of manual materials handling-related injuries. The significance of losses linked to manual materials handling, however, implies a need for further research efforts to enhance the minimization of such claims. Within this context then, a study provides a descriptive summary of the attributes of a large sample of recent manual materials handling-related claims.
