Article Abstract:
Investors can choose which level of service they require from stockbrokers. Lower commissions can be obtained if investors use dealing-only services. Investors dealing intermittently may seek low commissions, but more regular dealing may mean that administrative support becomes important, and this may include portfolio valuations. Dealing with advice means high commissions, but brings the benefits of advice from an expert with close links to the market. Portfolio management can involve giving managers power to act on their own, or they may check with investors before taking decisions.
