Archives: all dressed up in paper
Article Abstract:
Paper dresses started as corporate promotional materials in 1966-1967, owing to the design possibilities the materials offered. They briefly became fashionable disposable clothing but faded to oblivion by 1970. Now they are considered popular collectibles fetching large sums in auctions and sales exhibits, largely due to their graphic designs that evoke 1960's psychedelia and objects, such as a Campbell Soup-inspired dress that costs between $1500 to $1800. The story of Paper dresses is a perfect example of the dynamic frame of mind that capitalist societies shape.

Archives: spacesuits size Shepard
Article Abstract:
New York art dealer and collector Norman Brosterman expanded his collection of astronautical souvenirs with several space suits, helmets, gloves and space food reminiscent of NASA's pioneering years of design and development. The space suits typify functionalism at its best and the emphasis on constant modification represents the need for dynamic design. Brosterman's private collection proves as valuable as those treasures found in astronautical museums in Huntsville, AL and Washington, D.C.
