Are health care insiders feeling the effects of medicare reform?
Article Abstract:
Proposed legislation aimed at trimming Medicare and Medicaid funding, if approved, will put strong pressure on health care firms to consolidate and increase the reliance of these firms on acquisition-based growth. If such a scenario occurs, insider trading analysis will be a useful tool for identifying firms that are potential candidates for takeover. Moreover, health care firms that are in a strong financial position to take over their competitors will benefit the most in such a scenario.

Evaluating health reform
Article Abstract:
The standards for assurance engagements (SAE) have been applied in a direct reporting engagement involving the health-care sector in Saskatchewan, Canada. It was recommended that a long-term plan, ranging from three to 10 years, be developed, and that the health needs assessment information of the province's districts be organized and combined. The SAE can aid practitioners in understanding and fulfilling their responsibilities.
