Arjo Wiggins Appleton: apres la deluge
Article Abstract:
Arjo Wiggins Appleton is a paper dealer and producer which has been affected by major changes in the price of raw materials. The company has also been hit by overcapacity in Europe in addition to recession. A drop in the price of pulp should help the company and European paper operations are expected to report a profit of 30 million pounds sterling for 1996, though the turnover is forecast at 1.4 billion pounds. The group could sell Appleton in the US but this would mean selling the most profitable part of the group.
