Article Abstract:
Harris Corp. Government Communications Systems Div., Melbourne, Fla., was awarded on June 26, 1998, a $7,630,411 modification to a firm-fixed-price and time and materials contract for the Lightweight Multiband Satellite Terminal (LMST) Program. The LMST Program provides tri-band super high frequency terminals, which will provide smaller, lighter, modular more flexible terminals to meet the theater deployable communications requirement to provide initial long-haul communications for bare-base deployment, and augment communications as deployment matures. There are two configurations of LMST terminals; one configuration is housed in a trailer with onboard power source, and the second configuration is packaged in transit cases without a power source. This acquisition is for the Block 4 ECP which incorporates many enhancements to the LMST trailer configuration, and exercises an option for an additional four LMST trailer configuration terminals. Work will be performed in Palm Bay, Fla., and is expected to be completed by July 30, 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There was an announcement on the electronic bulletin board on Feb. 7, 1995, and eight bids were received. Datapath Inc.*, Atlanta, Ga., is being awarded a firm-fixed-price, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract (appropriation number and dollar value will be issued with each delivery order), with a not-to-exceed cumulative total of $18,197,808. The project is for the acquisition of up to 25 Deployable Ku-Band Earth Terminals (DKET). The DKET is a self contained shelterized configuration where all required terminal electronics are housed in a transportable shelter and the antenna system is deployed on a government prepared site. The DKET shall provide all the required environmental control equipment to operate continuously. It's designed to be fielded, operated and maintained by contractor personnel who have been properly trained on the system and its components. Work will be performed at various locations inside and outside of the continental United States, and is expected to be completed by Aug. 31, 2003. This is an option to procure kits utilized in the modernization process including spares, various data items, warranties, and training.
