Atmel Corp, a San Jose, CA-based dealer of high performance memory and logic integrated circuits, experienced a soar in earnings and profits in the first three quarters of 1991. Earnings increased by 60% to reach $120.4 million, while profits increased to $10.3 million. On the other hand, last quarter figures for the 1991 were not as impressive because of a decrease in productivity. Last March, the firm went public and initiated a public offering of 5,175,000 shares at $13 per share.

Although Cypress' net income increased to about $1 million for 1991, the company stressed its failure on December quarter that resulted to a $2.3 million decrease in profits.
