Echlin Inc's (ECH) cost-control policy and the resurgence in sales of its engines and brakes divisions have resulted in financial gains for the automobile supplies manufacturer in the 2nd qtr ending Feb 1992. The upward financial trend marks a break in the firm's 12 consecutive quarterly losses, which is indicative of the recession's effect on the industry in general. ECH's stock, which jumped to 20 cents per share, posted a 54% increase from its former rate and is expected to rise by another five to 15 cents in Aug 1992.
