Biomechanical measures
Article Abstract:
Nine male and nine female students were asked to perform combination and single manual handling tasks to compare the risks assessed in both tasks. The hand force, peak lumbar compression force and peak lumbar shear force for both single and combination tasks were measured and compared. The combination task value was found to be significantly different from the single task value in at least one of the 12 comparisons performed for each dependent variable. The study concluded that the risk in combination manual handling tasks cannot be accurately assessed by using estimates based on biomechanical measures of single tasks.

Simultaneous measurements of posture and movements of head and trunk by continuous three-dimensional registration
Article Abstract:
The postures and movements of head and trunk were measured in straddle carrier drivers, crane operators and office employees. It was shown that the workplace has a significant effect on adopted postures and movement patterns. Crane operators have the most static posture, while daily head movements of straddle carrier drivers are more than the other workers.
