Boeing profits soar, but revenues slump on strike, DOD sales

The Boeing Co., the second largest defense contractor has posted higher profits in third quarter of 2005 partly due to the sale of a company unit, but revenues have reduced due to declining sales to the Department of Defense (DOD), and a labor strike. The new income increased 121.7% to $1.011 billion in the third quarter of 2005, but its revenues fell 4 percent to $12.629 billion from $13.152 billion in the third quarter 2004.

Boeing bolsters bottom line with defense, airliner strength

Boeing Co. posted good results for the final three months of 2005 due to the increase in defense and civilian contracts. Boeing's results included net income that more than doubled from October to December to $460 million.
