Boeing trumpets HH-47 helicopter for CSAR-X
Article Abstract:
The Boeing Company is hoping that the US Air Force chooses its twin-rotor aircraft, the HH-47 helicopter, over other competing aircraft including Bell Helicopter Textron and the Boeing's V-22 Osprey for the CSAR-X combat search and rescue vehicle. The HH-47 has its genesis in the existing MH-47G Chinook heavy assault helo and its features that include the Common Avionics Architecture System cockpit, make it a useful vehicle for combat assault in high altitudes and severe weather.

Lawmaker says leasing Boeing tankers would save money
Article Abstract:
A member of the US House Appropriations Committee defense subcommittee said in support of a controversial multi-billion deal, that the economic wisdom of the Air Force lies in leasing rather than purchasing outright new aerial refueling tanker planes from the Boeing Co.. In a time of tight procurement budgets leasing diminishes upfront costs and makes it easier to get vital aircraft into the hands of the military forces, he emphasized.

Boeing 100-tanker plane deal may survive, but no more leasing
Article Abstract:
The House and Senate members ordered that 100 aerial refueling tanker planes be purchased from the Boeing Co. outright instead of being leased. The plan means that the Air Force will not get all of the tankers as soon as it might have under the leasing plan.
