Grant Thornton's national managing partner Michael Cleary believes that changing marketplace is really benefiting the firm, which has announced the growth of 7% for the year June 2005. According to him, the fundamental market change is that people are more prepared to look at alternative suppliers and regulators and legislations are also causing the people to decide whether they have to continue with their historic supplier or not.

A survey of the 10 largest firms other than the Big Four that formed the top 60 consultancy firms of UK in 2006 was conducted to find out if they wanted a bigger slice of the FTSE 100/350 audit market. Their strategies to expand their businesses in the FTSE 100/350 companies in the wake of the Oxera report and their opinions about the Big Four are presented.

The Top 60 firms of UK for 2006 suggests that the income disclosure by the firms bases on service line make comparison difficult. Income generated from consultancy seems to have risen sharply which indicate that the firms are going back to consultancy-based services after a trend of several years that regarded consultancy services as distinct entities.
