Center works to control defense manufacturing costs, keep U.S. jobs
Article Abstract:
The US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command's Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center awarded a five-year $24.3 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity pact to National Center of Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) extending help to the US defense industrial base to control manufacturing costs, increase productivity, and keep jobs in the country. The NCDMM helps the services and manufacturers get the best machining methods as well as help advance state-of-the-art technologies.

The US Army's decision to switch its Future Combat Systems (FCS) program from a nontraditional contract to a conventional federal acquisitions regulation (FAR) pact would not have an impact on its costs or content. FCS is to be made up of 18 components that include cutting-edge manned and unmanned vehicle.
